First let me tell you a story about something that happened when I was at work on Friday.
"I was talking to the kids about Martin Luther King and segregation. So I was telling them how the black kids would not have been able to go to Harding the school that I work at, and then I was like some of the Hispanic kids might not be able to go either. So they go into an uproar and s...he yells out "But I'm white, me and my family are white."
As soon as she said this I was like WTH? This girl is Mexican and looks like a little Pocahantas.
I am thinking what White People do you know that look like you. And not only that but also talk you. Now I did not get on her about this because she is a child so she her perspective is probably slightly skewed. It just made me think about something. Because I have notice that there are a few people of color who sometimes think they are white. Some parents from different countries that are not in Europe sometimes even tell their children that they are white. So I am starting to think what is the benefit of being a minority and obviously not looking anything like a white person but thinking that you are white?
