For the Love of Elevation: Forgotten Dunkers part 1

I have been thinking about doing a For the Love of Elevation: A Decade edition. So I was searching through youtube looking for videos and I could not really find anything. Then I started having a conversation with my homeboy Evan and it lead to him bringing up Jame White. I had totally forgotten about this dude. He was one of the best dunkers I have ever seen. And I definitely thought he was going to be that dude. Especially since he can do this.

Then I started thinking there are other guys who were spectacular dunkers but never really did anything outside of that. So here are a few of them that would Elevate but never elevated to the next level.

Isma'il Muhammad



All I remember this dude ever doing was dunking, and he was probably one of the best. I believe he played against my high school, and went in on us.

Gerald Green



I remember seeing this dude in the All American Dunk contest. When he got in the NBA contest, you thought it could be a chance for him to exploded, but yet he never did.

John Humphrey aka the Helicopter



One of the sickest dunkers, but yet his skill was only AND 1 level. It is funny how the commentator compares him Vince Carter and Jordan. He was a great dunker but I think that Jordan and Carter where better dunkers. They also won their respective dunk contest.



Darius Miles



At one point in the NBA not only could this dude catch any oop that was thrown his way but he was supposed to be the next big thing. He was actually one of Jordan Brands signature athletes.

Harold Miner aka Baby Jordan



Not only was this dude a great dunker but as his name suggest he was supposed to be the next Jordan. Well it turned out he was only the next Harold Miner.

So ends part 1. And I have to say for part one James White is definitely the best out of the bunch, I think he also had a lot more potential then a lot of these other players, he just could never get it going. I have to do some research and then I will get on part 2 later. Shout out to my boy Evan for helping inspire this idea.

The White Plague

So yesterday was just another one of those normal days. Most of it was just chill, and it was good. Spent a lot of time playing 360 and on the computer. Little did I know that later in the day I would be stricken with a horrible illness. Well not me but something that is very close to me.

So me and my boy Fresh Baked Bread were talking about Jersey Shore yesterday and something dawned on me. While on that show the guidos usually "GO HAM" but is that the proper terminology for them. No I do not think so. So I thought to myself what would Italian people "Go". After a moment it came to me.

Moving into the next generation

Today I took a step toward the next generation in gaming and got one of these bad boys.

When it is all said and done this dude will go down in history as one of the worst rappers ever. Every time I hear this dude rap I feel like shooting myself in the face. You know you are a bad rapper when Soulja Boy, Project Pat, and even Waka Flaka Flame are better rappers than you. I have never in my life heard a good verse from this guy. That is why I think that we need to start a petition that will not allow him to rap anymore. I know he does not need to. I have to give props to my boy Eric for sending this my way. This is a side project from LightSpeed Champion. It has a really unique feel to it. To me he sounds a lot like Prince and the front man of Bloc Party Kele. Great, but this dude usually does his thing.

Interesting story. I thought they would have been more accepting of this, because there seems to be a lot of Black and Asian mixing going on around the world. But as the reporter said the place is very homogeneous. This is kind of sad as well, because it is bad in America, but this girl is in a place where she is probably one of only very few people who look like she does.

Let me also add this is the first black and asian person who I have seen that has a traditional name, and also speak the language. Though most of the people that I know live in America or maybe I just do not know as many.

I have recently decided that Zoe Saldana is way hotter than Megan Fox. Megan Fox is hot but she cannot touch Zoe. Why is Zoe so much hotter than Megan? It is simply because she has talent. I mean how many women can make a 9 foot tall blue alien seem a little hot. Yes Megan may have a made a homicidal demon hot, but she did that in her own skin. Zoe Saldana is so much more talented than Megan and that makes her hotter, talent in their craft is something very sexy in women. Plus I think Zoe has a more unique look than Megan does. She has beautiful eyes, and she seems more natural. At times Megan looks fake, like she had some work done on her lips. Do not get me wrong Megan is hot, but she is not touching Zoe.

Are You Kidding Me

Ok so I was uber excited to see this movie when I saw the first trailer. But now they are starting to play with my emotions this, movie looks flipping sweet. I seriously cannot wait.

WOWZER!!!

WOWZER!!! James Cameron's Avatar is definitely one of the most visually stunning movies I have ever seen in my life. When I first saw the trailer I was like this movies seems like it is going to be a bust, it is getting to much hype. After seeing the movie I am a true believer. But the thing that sets this movie apart from a lot of the other sci-fi movies that are visually beautiful is that it has pretty good story behind it too, it is not just a whole bunch of pretty sights. In a review that I read on ign.com it was compared to Fern Gully and that comparison definitely fits well with this movie. The movie is filled with breath taking environment, exotic and enchanting creatures, and a great story. It is kind of Fern Gully meets, Conquistadors/Cowboys vs Indians.

Just a brief summary of the movie. It is basically about Jake Sully(played by Sam Worthington) who has to fill in for his twin brother who is robbed and killed in driving a Avatar. An avatar is basically a faux body, that one can pilot. Well the reason that Jake is to pilot and avatar is so that he can help this mystery company get their hands on this special mineral. The only problem is that the Native Alien, the Na'vi do not want to give up their land that easily. So Jake is sent into the woods were he is almost killed when he is save by Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana). This is when the movie really kicks into gear.

This movies also reminds me somewhat of Pocahontas. The Spanish who becomes infatuated with the native girl. It is a great story. There is also the villain a pretty diabolical Colonel Quaritch (played by Stephen Lang) bent on destroying almost every living thing on the planet. This movie also reminded me a lot of District 9. In the sense that you do not truly understand someone until you are able to live like them.

This movies has most of everything that a great movie needs. The ending was a little sappy but still good. It is a must see. I am more than likely going to go and see it again, next time I might do 3-D. Let me also add that Sam Worthington is starting to become one of my favorite actors. He will be in one of my upcoming must see movies of the year, CLASH OF THE TITANS.

Let me also add that even as nine feet tall alien Zoe Saldana is still pretty sexy.

WTH!!!

So me and my brother were on the way home from the movies(which I will talk about in another post). We rode the train there and had to ride it back. Riding the train back we had to transfer in order to make it home. When we boarder the train home our noses were berated by one of the worst smells ever. It smelled like somebody had taken a poop sandwich eaten it, and then thrown it up on themselves, and then gone home and taken a bath in dodo, it was horrible. It was one of those smells that is so bad that you have to check yourself. You know just to see if you stepped in something, heck I even started thinking that I may have pooped on myself.

"So Far Gone" Mixtape of The Year?

Yesterday So Far Gone was proclaimed mixtape of the year by MTV. When I heard this I first thought to myself...Did they listen to "Enemy Of The State: A Love Story"? But then I started to think to myself, maybe I am being a little biased. Yes I do believe that when it comes to a complete work of hip-hop that when it comes to a mixtape going in so many different directions and a artist just going in it is hard to compete with Lupe. He showed how versatile he was by hopping on beats from "All The Way Turnt Up" to "National Anthem" to "Say Something". But Drake at the same time did this going from "Unstoppable" to "Uptown" to "Best I Ever Had". But I do not think that Drake came close to delivering the lyrical content that Lupe.

But on another note, I also believe that there are other mixtapes that should be in the hunt for mixtape of the year beside "So Far Gone". Me personally I definitely feel like Lupe takes but I think that Wiz Khalifa should get some sort of recognition, as well as the Cool Kids, and I will admit I even think that "No Ceilings" should be up there "So Far Gone". But then again this is MTV we are talking about so who knows.

I never thought I would see this, but I guess everybody has their moments, and there is that one person who will get to everybody no matter what or how nice they are.

Someone brought it to my attention that JD's blog was better than mine. Not on any type of hating or anything like that, just letting me know. Personally I read JD's blog on a daily basis and it is a good one. Most of the stuff that he talks about is stuff that I would only be able to afford or get into unless I was one of the greatest dope boys...wait I take that back I could not even be a dope boy I would have to be one of the greatest King Pins that Atlanta had ever seen, or a very popular Youtube rapper. You Know What Really Sinks My Ship

The title is kinda of lame but ehh.

But anyways I have been wondering I am the only who really does not like to hear people listen to music on the train without headphones? And then they play it loud enough for everybody to hear. I remember this dude was listening to some of the worst rap music I have ever heard in my life this one time I was riding the train. If you want to listen to some horrible music get some headphones so that only you can hear, I do not want to hear it.

Another thing that fits with this category is talking really loud to some on your phone on the train. The other weak the same dude who was listening to some really bad music, got on the phone and was talking super loud on his phone. So this dude gets on the phone and starts saying "O...you want some dope huh". And at first I was thought to myself WTH. But then he keep on talking and it was just one of those things were you heard to much stuff that you did not want to hear. The train only has so much space on it, and some people do not feel like moving once they sit down. Unless dude wanted to hear him cakin, which is kind of weird and just from the entire conversation I am sure that he was talking to an ugly chick, there is no need to talk that long.

Tobia Funke: A Real Mans Man

Sometimes I truly wonder how this show did not last so much longer. It was one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. In this post I decided to dedicate some time to Tobias Funke, the worlds first ANALRAPIST, a bi-curious want to be actor, and a man always trying to get BLUED. So many great lines just in these scenes, and many other scenes from the show.

WTH 50 Cent

A few weeks ago I read some interview comments that 50 Cent had where he was talking about Jay-Z. I found these on nahright.com. The thing that stuck out to me was this quote right here:

"He has a king complex, he thinks he’s fucking Jesus, you know what I mean? This J-Hova shit."

This was not that big a deal to me...until I was reading the XXL with him in it. And I am reading I read this quote by 50 Cent where he says this:

"...They were giving me resistance-they didn't want me to win during the Curtis project, because of the success I had prior to that. But it's interesting, because they made me successful. And when I say "they", I mean the general public.

This dude talks about Jay-Z having a King Complex, well this dude has to have a god complex or something. And this is not the worst thing that he has said, he has said things more ridiculous than this. I wonder why he cannot admit that the material on Curtis just was not that good. I am sure he will find a way to run around and say how even though Before I Self Destruct is a potential flop(when it comes to 50 Cent numbers) it was because people wanted him to fail because he has become so powerful. Looking at the numbers of Before I Self Destruct they are beyond weak compared to all of his previous efforts, yes, I understand that the way albums are sold has shifted completely since when his first albums came out but still. If 50 Cent has followers like I believe he believes he does then his numbers would be much better. Before I go any further let just say that when it comes to 50 Cent as a business man, knowing how to market himself, and creating extremely catchy songs he is truly a genius but this dude is not the artist that he thinks he is. He feels like every time he does something that is going to completely shift the paradigm. Everybody has to have noticed that his material has suffered as time has gone bye. While he does come out with the occasion song that makes people realize why the were so intrigued with 50 Cent it is always followed by a dud these days.

But any who hopefully 50 Cent definitely is not as hungry as he used to be when he first came out. While he is still in beef like when he first came he not hungry like he was when he first start and I think it causing him to suffer in certain situation, because his intention are questioned.

Man this has to be one of the funniest movies ever. And these are two of the funniest scene in the movie. Arsenio Hall and Della Reese killed their parts, Oscar worthy performances. Arsenio Hall crying has to be one of the funniest things ever. When Arsenio Hall tell his boy to put his gun away I almost started crying. And also when he is the car with Miguel Nunez. When he shots the dude in the back of the head, it almost brings me to tears. If you notice the sound that the dude makes when he gets shot is the same sound that Quick makes when he gets upper cut by Vera. CLASSIC.

Back In The Day

There have been a lot of fashions to come and go. Some of these fashions lasted months others lasted years. For some of these fashions it only took one person to get them to become the "it" thing for others it took an entire movement. I have decided to create something dedicated to them.

Does anybody remember when Miskeen wasthe hottest clothing line. If you had a miskeen shirt you were about something. I remember I had one Miskeen shirt and I got a homeboy of mine to paint some air force ones for me. Thinking back to being all wrapped up in Miskeen was kind of silly. Because if somebody had really wanted a miskeen shirt they probably could have done it in their own home. Do not get me wrong I am not trying to take anything away from the people who created Miskeen, they were definitely artistic geniuses but at the same time, I could have easily gotten some paint, and white t-shirt and done close to the same thing. Not exactly close but somewhere near. And even though someone might think it was fake at least I save $20 or $30.

Also it was always funny when the debate of whether some one miskeen shirt was fake or not. There was one classic statement that came with wearing a fake Miskeen shirt, "Did you make that yourself?"

Ok so I usually I am whistling or humming something. Everybody has those songs that they whistled or hum no matter where they are. You could be at work, talking to someone or riding a donkey while fighting a mountain lion. So I have put together the songs that I probably whistle or hum the most.

Guilty Pleasure TV addition

Ok I have to admit that when people were talking about "How it was a shame that the Game was being canceled" and "Everybody needed to sign a petition to save the Game" I was kind of like ehh. But after watching most of the episode, it has become one of my guilty pleasures. There is just something about this show that is quite addictive.

Man I just saw this yesterday....HOLY SH#$. Man Liam Neeson was losing his marbles in this movie. He probably did more of those karate chops than a Steven Seagal movie. One thing that I liked about this movie was that it had a very old school feel to it. There were not too many special gadgets, just a man using his hands as lethal weapons and boy did. Wow, the scene with the Albanians was crazy. Here are a few moment from the film that were insane. Enjoys.

Rihanna ft Shy Ronnie is probably one of the best Rihanna songs I have ever heard. Now everybody has heard that Wayne verse where they have been like what the f did he just say. Not because he metaphor was so deep, simply because he mumbles his words.

More wise words from Bleach

So we have more wise words from my favorite Manga. This time they are from another good guy turned Villain, Kaname Tōsen. He was also a former captain in Soul Society. The thing that he said that stands out to me was:

"The most important thing for soldier to have, is not strength but a fear of battle. When you fear battle, you are able to take up your sword for other who are afraid".

This just stuck out to me, because you see a lot of people who like when they are raising a weapon to some they are the greatest warriors in the history of the world, but in the end they are more cowards than anythings. Most great warriors are not fighting for themselves instead they are fighting for some one who cannot raise a sword themselves.

SMH, danger of wanting to be like a black girl.
